Airboat Rides and Everglades Access, Honestly Priced

October 13, 2026 ยท 6 min read ยท My FL Guide

An airboat ride is the Florida experience almost nobody regrets, and the one where the price you expect and the price you pay can be two different things. Some operators sell seats on a shared boat. Others run private charters only, where you pay for the whole boat whether two of you show up or six. Both models are legitimate, both are in our listings, and two operators a few miles apart can quote numbers that look nothing alike for what sounds like the same trip.

So here is how this piece works. Every fare below was read on the operator's own page on 8 October 2026, and we printed only what those pages still show. Where we could not re-read a price the same day, we have not guessed at one. Airboat rates move with the time of year and with fuel, and this is a category where picking up the phone is completely normal.

Fares we can stand behind today

Captain Jack's Airboat Tours in Everglades City publishes per-person fares on captainjacksairboattours.com: a 30-minute grassland airboat tour from $36, a 50-minute mangrove maze airboat tour from $48, and combo packages from $91 and $106. Read again on the operator's own pages, 1 November 2026, where the figures still stand.

Bayport Airboat Tours, on the Adventure Coast out of Mary's Fish Camp, is blunter about it: adults $60 per person for the one-hour airboat tour and $75 for the sunset tour, with children 10 and under at $45 and $55. Read on bayportairboattours.com, 1 November 2026, where the same page notes a two-person minimum on every tour.

Airboat Rides at Midway, on the St. Johns River at Christmas east of Orlando, puts both models on one page: riders 13 and up at $49.77 plus tax per seat on the shared boat, or the whole boat for groups of up to six at $375 plus tax, with larger groups priced per person. The same page says reservations are recommended, so check before you go. Read again on airboatridesatmidway.com, 1 November 2026, where the figures still stand.

None of those numbers is a vehicle rate to be split between passengers. The seat fares are strictly per person, Bayport adds a two-person minimum, and Midway's larger figure buys the whole boat rather than a seat. A trip advertised at one figure can end up at quite another once the minimum, the add-ons and the tip are in.

Everglades City and the western Everglades

Everglades City is the classic airboat town: mangrove rivers on one side, sawgrass on the other, and the Ten Thousand Islands out front. These are the operators in our listings.

Tampa Bay, Homosassa and the Big Bend marsh country

What to ask before you book

Practical notes

Airboats are loud and quick, and the marsh is wetter than it looks from the dock. Bring a layer you do not mind getting sprayed, secure hats, glasses and phones, and treat an early or late run as the better bet for wildlife and for your own comfort. Sunset trips out of the Big Bend marsh country are popular for a reason: the light does a lot of the work.

Airboating is one of the few Florida days that works for a family, a birdwatcher and a couple chasing a sunset in the same afternoon. Pick the region first, then the operator. The ride is the ride, but the marsh you ride through is not, and that is the choice worth making deliberately.
